Mixed Tax Manager / Snr Manager

South Hampshire Area – Salary: £55,000 – £75,000 + Benefits (Dependent on Experience)

Position: Full-time, Permanent

About Us

My client is a highly regarded, growing independent accountancy and advisory practice. Known for our entrepreneurial spirit and client-first approach, we specialise in supporting Owner-Managed Businesses (OMBs), high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs), and dynamic SMEs.

Unlike rigid corporate structures, our independent practice offers a collaborative, flexible working environment where your voice is heard, and your career progression is directly linked to your impact. We are now looking for an ambitious Mixed Tax Manager (20-25% Corporate Tax and 75-80% personal) to oversee a diverse portfolio and lead our expanding tax team.

The Role

As a Mixed Tax Manager, you will manage a varied portfolio of corporate and personal tax clients. This is an all-round role blending high-level compliance management with complex technical advisory projects. You will act as the primary point of contact for clients and play a key role in mentoring junior staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advisory Projects: Assist Partners in delivering high-value tax planning and advisory services, including corporate reorganisations, research and development (R&D) tax credits, EMI share options, CGT planning, and IHT planning.
  • Portfolio Management: Oversee a diverse client portfolio consisting of OMBs, directors, corporate groups, and HNWIs, ensuring a proactive and seamless service.
  • Compliance & Review: Review complex corporation tax and personal tax computations prepared by the wider team, ensuring strict adherence to HMRC deadlines.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and support the professional development of tax seniors and semi-seniors, managing workflows effectively.
  • Client Relations: Act as a trusted adviser, simplifying complex legislative updates and maintaining strong, long-lasting client relationships.

What We Are Looking For

  • Qualifications: CTA, ACA, or ACCA qualified (ATT with significant, demonstrable experience will also be considered).
  • Experience: A proven track record in a mixed tax, corporate tax, or private client role within a UK professional accountancy practice.
  • Technical Skills: Strong technical knowledge of UK tax legislation across both direct and corporate taxes, with experience advising owner-managed businesses.
  • Software: Proficiency in modern cloud accounting and tax software (e.g., CCH, Iris, Digita, Xero).
  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to handle client-facing situations independently.

What’s on Offer

  • Competitive salary (£55k – £75k) based on experience and qualifications.
  • Hybrid & Flexible Working: A healthy work-life balance with options for remote and flexible working arrangements.
  • Clear pathways to Senior Manager and Director level within the practice.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including private medical insurance, enhanced pension, and a professional subscription allowance.
  • An energetic, friendly, and supportive independent firm culture.
